DCS 2 Way Provides Radios to Tour de Yorkshire
The Tour de Yorkshire had a remarkable turn out this year, with over a million spectators attending the event. It takes a well organised radio set-up to ensure that many spectators are kept safe, and DCS 2 Way were delighted to be able to provide that service.
We supplied a number of Motorola DP4400 hand portable radios for the finish of Day One, which was a 186km journey from Beverly to Settle. This gave multiple user groups effective coverage in and around Settle, where we had set up a control room.
The radio system comprised of three channels for the different groups of users:
- Event management users
- Medics
- Emergency personnel
Multiple channels enabled each group of users to communicate efficiently with others in their group and reduced congestion. This is especially important for such a busy event, and we’re pleased to say that thanks to meticulous organisation, the day went without a hitch.
At any event that hires our radios, it’s important to make sure everyone is comfortable operating the equipment; a brief training session in the control room took care of this and then everyone was kept busy as the Tour de Yorkshire got underway.
